Charity: With Wings and a Halo - R.E.A.C.H. a Child!
Where do you begin to describe a woman who everyday gets up at 5:45 a.m. and heads off to her normal job at St. Mary's Outpatient Surgery, works long and hard helping patients throughout the day; then comes home to another entirely new venture! For the past months, Chris Gilbertson, President of "With Wings and a Halo - R.E.A.C.H. a Child!" has been helping head up a rapidly growing non-profit which reaches out to chidren in crisis situations! Thru her efforts and that of her husband, Paul, they have managed to bring this program into Dane County ! Currently every squad car and ambulance in this county has a "B.A.C.K. Packet" of 10-12 Children's Books in the trunk of their vehicle to donate to children that the officers/EMS meet while on duty who are in some sort of a crisis situation. The books help, literally transport that child to a happier and safer place while in the midst of a crisis. Recently, the program was endorsed by the State of Wisconsin Chiefs of Police Association and will soon be going statewide ! She's also a wonderful mother for our four children, two off to College and two still in High School . She finds time to attend all of their sporting events, soccer, basketball, ski team and golf! Now, she's coordinating a "Leap Of Love" marriage retreat ! What's next?!
